THE BEST DAMN DOOM & GLOOM YOU’LL EVER READ

Friends and family have asked why I haven’t written a blog post in awhile, and some have offered their unsolicited analysis by describing me as  a liberal whose zombified & bored after winning the election.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  I’m not bored, I’m almost petrified with concern.

Enough is enough. Being on the sidelines watching our so-called leadership line us up & march every one of us to slaughter has become unbearable.  Time to speak up.  Time to inject some fear into the bones of every fellow American who feels comfortable with their present lives.  Once and for all, I’m writing this post as a wake up call of our lifetime. To each and every American citizen; wake up. Pay attention NOW.

For the past several weeks since the election, I’ve been intentionally assuming a more voyeuristic role online amidst social media networks.  Watching & observing the temperament of the masses as the horrifying daily news about the collapse of our civilization slowly trickles into our lives.

Government communication to our citizenry has obviously been designed to quell fears and to keep people spending money.  The news media continues to dumb down America by sheltering us from sobering reality, and for some criminal reason, they’re also refusing to hold government and business accountable to our people.

The mainstream media is putting out crap.  Our citizens are believing it, and what I’ve seen from both ends of the communications spectrum I do not like. Why?  Because our entire population is left extremely vulnerable if we’re not provided with accurate and timely information we need to protect their families.  I sincerely believe that we will suffer greater destruction to our civilization if the populous is suddenly “surprised” by the reality that our economy is in worse shape than business & government are aware, but are willing to reveal.   Everyone needs to quickly realize that the U.S. Government cannot come to our rescue in the event of total collapse of our governmental and monetary system.

Hate to say this, but to get everyone’s attention; I ask everyone to remember this case in point: KATRINA.  Katrina’s a birthday party in scale, but it’s the most recent example of how our government responds to the uncertainty of catastrophic human events.  Essentially, they’ve exhibited they have no plan but to protect our government assets, and our government will not know how to respond and react until catastrophic circumstances “evolve” and present themselves.

What does this mean?  It means that if we continue on our current course, our banks may shut down, martial law will be declared, our government may become bankrupt, and as social order unravels, each of us will be “on our own” until the dust settles.  Call me a kook, but please believe me when I tell you that I have first hand knowledge and documentation that our government has known, and has tried to prepare militarily for this eventuality since the mid-eighties.

If you don’t believe my alarmist babble, look around you. Daily news should cause everyone alarm.  It’s time for us all to start reading between the lines and become skeptical of the constant barrage of messages offering comfort and hope.  Remember folks, our entire system is designed to grow on high consumer confidence & outlook.  If I were to actually have a 15 minute segment on CNN or FOX discussing the topics in this post, consumer confidence will certainly drop, people will hang onto every penny they have, and any remote chance of meager economic growth will immediately come to a screeching halt.  That’s exactly why we don’t hear doom & gloom scenarios in the main stream media; because sheltering us from the truth about the state of our economy has become a “national security” issue.

Folks, we’re on our own from here on out, so I will do my best as a fellow American citizen to share unpopular opinion and perspective of a doom & gloom scenario.  If we survive the next six month’s downward spiral, we’ll all be happy.  But the information I will continuously provide over the coming months is intended to prepare us to take care of our families.  No harm, no foul.

Let me get started.

EMPLOYMENT

START LOOKING FOR A JOB NOW! CHANCES ARE, YOU’RE ABOUT TO BE FIRED! (COMPANIES ARE CALLING IT “RIGHT-SIZING”).

Every indication points towards a 10-20% unemployment rate within the next several months.  What to do?  Start setting yourself up for the eventuality that you will lose your job.  That’s right. I’m telling you – in advance – what your boss and your company won’t tell you.  You’re about to lose your job, and you won’t know it until the very last minute.  Your company only cares about their own survival, and is about to kick you and your family to the curb – without adequate notice; so as not to disturb productivity until your last work day.

So, why not prepare now?  Why not network today, at a time when you’re not as desperate to accept a lower paying position because you’re desperately unemployed.  Start job hunting now by updating your resume, interviewing, networking & talking to friends and family; proactively seeking job opportunities at a time when you are least “needy”.  Companies; hiring managers, don’t want to hire desperate job seekers because it’ll take them a few extra months for the desperation to wear off, and your true persona, experience & skill set to shine through.

If you don’t have job offers in the coming weeks and months, figure out what kind of business you can start that will immediately generate income for your family.  That’s right, whether you want to or not, plan for self employment as an emergency back-up.  If you never end up losing your job, you’ll feel much better prepared to offer advice to your friends and family who may not be as observant & proactive.  Share this advice with everyone you know, this phase of our crisis will not discriminate, and will shock everyone.  Don’t think you can go get a job selling cars at a car lot either, or waitress at a restaurant as a last resort.  Prepare.

HOUSING

Don’t listen to the bull crap you hear from real estate agents.  Their job is to sell real estate, and they have grossly infected our economic system with false positive energy and enthusiasm about a recovery that was suppose to happen long ago.  No matter where you are in the country, near term recovery is total bullshit, especially when we reach 15%+ unemployment.  Keep in mind, in California, 1 out of every 8 Californians has a real estate license, and agents all fought for 1.3 real estate transactions per year —during the boom. We cannot rely on their so-called professional opinion, particularly when the majority of them pretend & profess that they will be around for you throughout your entire life.  Real estate agents care about 1 transaction, and that’s the one they are slamming down your throat — at the highest price and commission they can get; at the time when you’re most vulnerable and need accurate, timely information.  Ask yourself, when was the last time you knew of someone that used the same agent twice?   Real estate agents know this, and that’s why they’ll tell you everything you want to hear in order to support their part time, 1.3 average transactions per year employment – even at your personal expense and financial misery.

Reality:  We’re in for a down turn we haven’t imagined yet.  Real estate agents,  the news media, the US Government, no one will disclose this fact:  It will take us 15 years to break even in recovery from where we are right now.  We are in for an additional 20-30% correction in value and if you don’t believe me, listen to our US Treasury Secretary when he said that the US Government has changed their mind about how to spend the bailout; they will not be spending the $700 billion on buying toxic assets, and have now focused on pumping an infusion of capital into super-banks to keep them alive.  Why?  Because the problem is at least $5 trillion dollars huge!

There is plenty of public information available, but they don’t want to share it with us because they would rather that we listen to real estate agents & keep buying property at 20-30% higher than it will be worth in the next several months.  That philosophy should be criminalized, but it’s called capitalism and must be allowed to reign free in our “markets”.  Free market capitalism.  Legalized thievery in the midst of our current crisis.

Want to buy a home or investment property?  Hold off. Now is not the time to buy.  Free-market capitalism has failed in the real estate industry, and it will take a freshly written history textbook before anyone figures it out.  If an agent tells you otherwise, expose them publicly as a buffoon and a lying con-artist.

HYPER INFLATION

It’s coming. Most don’t know it, but the result of pumping so much freshly printed money into a sick economy causes one thing: inflation.  The only reason why we have staved off inflation is because of market manipulation by the US Government.  All they have done is post pone inflation, and could possibly have created an even bigger problem called “hyper-inflation”.

What is hyper-inflation? In laymen’s terms, it’s your grocery bill 10 times larger than it is now. Gasoline at $20.00 per gallon, and everything we purchase skyrocketing in price to levels that we can no longer afford.  We may only be able to buy essentials, and that will become a struggle for each of our families.

If this never happens, we’ll all be happy. But, what if it does?  Have you prepared your family financially to survive expenses ten times higher than they are right now?   Save every penny you have…you may need it.

EMERGENCY & SURVIVAL PLANNING

Every family needs to stock up on canned goods, water, and health & comfort items — just in case.  Don’t expect to get a FEMA manual in the mail, or see a Breaking News alert on CNN that the US Government expects that within six months, our country could potentially go bankrupt.  What if? What then?

What if the stock market bottoms out at 4-5000 points.  Of course, that will be a very bad day, and the following days the market may recover to give us a false sense of prosperity, but what is the true impact of such a catastrophic correction?

It takes at least 3-9 months for businesses to realize the impact of a sell off.  Essentially, when we recover in subsequent days after a crash, the money is simply shifted around. Wealth changes hands, and jobs are cut within months after a crash.

A 4 to 5000 pt stock market will cause a serious of domino effects that we have not seen during our entire history. We don’t know how our American civilization will handle it, or if it can even survive such a catastrophe.  The US Government has been preparing for many years to deal with the impact; by building FEMA camps on military installations, and developing plans to corral millions of unruly citizens who take to the streets for survival.

In the coming months, I will dedicate every spare moment to convincing American families to prepare for the worst case scenario — we’re on the doorsteps of the worst case scenario, and it would be irresponsible for any of us to scoff at anything I’ve discussed in this post.  We need to unify in the effort to share information on how to prepare our families and neighborhoods for “bank holidays”, absence or breakdown of government, anarchy, civil disorder on a magnitude that we have never imagined.  Right now, we are essentially under “martial law”, but there’s no guidance or direction on what we need to do to survive a catastrophic collapse of our economy and government.  It’s happening right now before our eyes, and for those that don’t currently see it or believe it, the system is better served by their continued “consumer confidence” and monetary support.  Next time you’re out & about, wave hello and say thank you to the people driving down the road in a brand new Hummer.  We need those irresponsible idiots spending money for as long as possible to keep us going.

Unfortunately, despite the aforementioned people spending money on the new Hummer, all signs point to a breakdown of our financial system, our government, and the rebuilding of our civilization as we know it.  We may or may not experience the worst case scenario in the very near future, but arguably there will be very few options to offer us the immediate recovery we need: world war, or the miraculous invention of a renewable form of energy we can provide to the entire world.  Other than those two options, free market capitalism may not be the best solution for what we need to have happen during our lifetimes.  The news either hasn’t reached the people in the Hummer, or they’re to careless to believe it.

Let me repeat a few things:

1) Free-market capitalism has failed.  It’s present form is gone forever, and will have to make a comeback in a very different form.  If you are a blind believer, take time out to drive through your neighborhood, go to the grocery store, and visit a Home Depot.  You will be convinced that we’re in big trouble.  If you’re a Republican conservative, your political pantry is empty. No more back up bullshit.  Republican capitalism is over.

2) Everyone needs to prepare their families to survive — on their own — for 2-4 weeks. If it takes banding together with other families in your neighborhood, so be it. Do it now. Have a plan & if something happens, you will have no regrets.  If you are not a gin enthusiast, identify who in your neighborhood is.  During Katrina, individuals couldn’t drive around town without firearms.  If experience a breakdown, it will take awhile to restore order, and our neighborhoods will have to be self sufficient.

3) Lastly, if nothing happens, we will be a much happier country.  I wish that for all of us, but ever since I wrote my first frantic post about depression in July 2008, we haven’t been getting happier as each day, week & month passes.  Don’t just think that a positive mental attitude will get us out of this.  We need to have a positive mental approach to protect and prepare for each our families, and we need to do so on our own initiative.

Take action now, and share your thoughts and ideas with everyone.  Stay tuned.  I expect to pour everything I’ve got into this project.

    Peter,
I think you make some valid points, but capitalism has not failed us. What has failed is the last administration.

Your points are bold and well taken, however, strength, optimism and hope were the pillars of our economy, spirit and government in the beginning and up until the year 2000 (the beginning of the failed administration).

I am not contesting your points, but hope and optimism are more than important in these times. If you choose to spread fear (which may in fact be true), it is the same thing that Faux News does… (by no means am I comparing you to them).

All I am saying is Obama brings hope from all this crap we’ve been dealing with in the past 8 years. What is so incredible is this: When Obama speaks and he articulates a well-thought, compound sentence … people are in shock… why? because what your post is about… it’s what we, the people (yes the document they tore apart) have been spoonfed that koolaid fascist gobbledygook.

I don’t blame you for your über-realism, and it is most certainly bold, though I tend to believe that our better days are ahead of us – but, it will take believing that again-all of us.

The mere fact that we are suprised that our President Elect is intelligent, is ridiculous (even though I catch myself saying …”wait, he’s the President… he’s SUPPOSED to be able to at LEAST pronounce the word NUCLEAR…”)

Hope is all we got… my friend… and belief in the system…

    Hi Peter,
Thanks for sharing. Funny, most college students are better prepared than those who listen to the MSM. My son came home everyday this past summer talking about all of the things you stated, especially the martial law portion.

Our younger generation has felt that there was nothing left for them, that America was headed into the toilet. They were all ready pretty far gone in their belief that they could achieve success, because they saw no opportunity. The only difference is they have a teeny bit of hope with new leadership at this point. I am on the same page as them.

I don’t take my news from there. I recently took economics and saw us falling down the rabbit hole. I figured it would get uglier and I am sure it will in the coming months. My hope is not to have total anarchy. My hope is that we all take a step back and let the new commander in chief try to patchwork a solution short term and obviously, come up with a long term agenda leading us toward solvency.

I hope more people do realize what you wrote has more truth than what they see on tv.
    Thanks

Wow. I agree with this and I’ve sent this on to many of my friends. Thanks!

We sold our house a year ago knowing all this was going to happen. It wasn’t really hard to see. We just had to make the decision to give up The American Dream. Greed was the only thing in our way for a long time. Now, living simply is our goal. Sustainable living is desire. That means spending only what we earn and saving for a rainy day. We are lucky that we have a bit of earth to call home with no strings attached. We may have to start packing soon…

Peter, thank you for this well written, informative & sobering piece of information.

Peter, You are a brave man to stand up and make sure your voice is heard loud and clear. While I am truly a positive thinker…Am not blind and dumbed down. I know too many truth tellers to stick my head in the sand now.

I am fearfull for America, but my faith sustains me most days. Does not mean I have not trained myself for survival or stocked my pantry . Most my income has been moved..

Keep speaking your mind with due diligence.
    You are the best!

  7. ThePete says:

Spot-on, man! Though I don’t think it’ll be quite as dire in the ways you suggest, I do agree we’re far away from recovery. I *do* believe it will be dire, but in ways we just can’t predict.

For those of us who have been paying attention, I think it’s obvious that it’s not just the Bush administration that has let us down, but the government, in general. While I don’t believe capitalism/the free market has let us down, I do believe those who practice it have let us down. Like our leaders in government, our financial leaders care more for their own individual success and power than they do the well-being of the rest of us.

American society has, in a way, programmed us to only care about our immediate selves. No long term planning, no caring about your neighbor, etc. I think that is where the solution will lie. We can’t just be “on our own.” I think it’s that mentality that got us here.

But I think you’re already on the way to helping with posts like this one, man. Education is key–if we all know what’s up, we can all work together to deal with it. We can beat this.

Thanks for this post, man. Good stuff!

  8. S.Secrets says:

Wow, Peter. You and I are likeminded on this. Even as my candidate won, I sat at my own election party with 200 guests in a pensive, reticent state. I worry about the US, such a baby country with so many good qualities and evolving everyday. But capitalism, and even our democracy, rises in my mind as a failed experiment. We are looking into a future as grim as Marx’s red-bricked Manchester, and our society values the plasticware over the flesh of others in need. In my opinion, this rock bottomness–a low that is far from being reached even as terrible as the economy is–will be a good thing on some fronts. The USA is hungry for a leveler for our ways of living. Starving, fuel impoverished, angry and sad people abound, and finding ourselves facing such a bleak truth may help us to rise again with the sorts of programs and the perspectives we need to be reborn. The Depression gave us the New Deal, not a perfect plan but a motion toward caring, compassion, and wisely tempered socialism. Why does our government work toward such PROGRESS for the banks and the CEOS while our people are in need? My prediction, my hope, is that if we survive this we will have carefully implemented programs to free us from the fetters imposed by insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and Big Oil.

I may seem idealistic and naive, but I still believe in this baby country, and I’m not afraid to suffer hardship for our improvement.

    Thanks for your work!
