Obama’s Cybersecurity bill will allow the President of the United States virtually dictatorial power over the internet. Politics aside; it’s my opinion that no liberal or conservative President should ever have that much power over any human beings born with “free will”.
“The bill’s draft states that “the president may order a cybersecurity emergency and order the limitation or shutdown of Internet traffic” and would give the government ongoing access to “all relevant data concerning (critical infrastructure) networks without regard to any provision of law, regulation, rule, or policy restricting such access,” reports Raw Story.
These days Americans generally don’t want to “fight” to defend their liberty because they prefer to avoid conflict rather than confront it. When our country was founded, there was a completely different attitude about defending our rights and liberties.

Hmmm.. I considered it a fact for years that governments are doing this. A friend of mine told me that if you go into an internet cafe and search for the wrong terms, so to say, it will take about 10-15 minutes before some people arrive to take you away to God knows where. I have no trouble believing that. In Europe, where I’m from, they monitor the hell out of everything. In Holland at least they even keep records of all your communications at internet providers. It’s required by law (!)
When it was implemented people threw a fit (the providers did too) but eventually it just went through like any other privacy-invading measures always do. The world just simply lets it happen, even if warnings about it coming are published in big headlines in major newspapers. The common thing most members of the public say is “Ah… when you do nothing wrong you have nothing to worry about, right?”. Oh… wait…
If you come to London, UK where I lived before moving to the US you’ll see that there are CCTV cameras on every street corner. Heck, multiple cameras even. It’s possible to follow someone around through London with them like you’re watching a movie where the camera never loses sight of the character playing the scene. Again, nobody is complaining.
The Orwellian society is already here. Sad but true.
