As reported in the Wall Street Journal:
“On Thursday, the chamber approved a $600 million border-security bill in 31 minutes, from opening gavel to final passage. While their colleagues were enjoying a summer recess, Sen. Chuck Schumer flew in from New York and Sen. Ben Cardin drove his Pontiac from Baltimore to represent the entire Senate in its cavernous chamber.”
New York Democrat Chuck Shumer mockingly proposed passing the bill by “unanimous consent,” meaning it would become law as long as no one objected. Mr. Cardin asked the empty room if anyone did, and, not surprisingly, response came there none. Just like that, the bill was on its way to the president’s desk.
There wasn’t a coup in the nation’s capital Thursday. Republicans agreed to the bill last week, and it had passed both the Senate and House already before falling foul of an element of Congressional procedure enshrined in the Constitution. To avoid ruining vacations—and re-election campaigns—Republicans gave Schumer and Cardin the OK to re-pass the bill themselves. Senator Schumer was quoted while grinning: “We had a long list of things we were tempted to bring up and pass.” [While everyone was gone from the Senate]
The almost 3/4 billion dollar bill includes lights, sirens and drones for an already out of control police state under the excuse of “border protection”. $600 million has been added to the credit card of the American taxpayer, with nothing to show for in return except more tyranny and oppression. The bill is lean in text, but section 402 of the bill assesses an additional $2500 fee or tax to an already insurmountable immigration fee schedule for illegal workers who, in some cases, earn $2.00 to $5.00 per hour.
Americans remain lethargic in the face of one of the most viscous and corrupt government’s on the planet. In the history of the United States, never before has the population stood silent when dictators and tyrannical foreign regimes attacked, raped and pillaged their people. It seems U.S. citizens are a deer in the headlights, not knowing how to deal with the corruption and thievery within their own government. No flag waving. No supporting our troops. Not a peep from world’s vocal fan’s of spreading “democracy” around the world.
Please read my letter to Shumer and Cardin. If I’m arrested, I don’t care. I’ll phone the Kremlin & ask for their assistance with my extradition to a country anywhere else in the world that has more respect for its citizens.
In addition to the $600 million bill stuck on the nations credit card account,section 402 calls for an increase of the already exorbitant fees paid by impoverished immigrant. By increasing fees, consumer advocates like me say that it will be even harder for illegal immigrants to “go legal”. Now, they really can’t afford to pay what used to be $10,000 plus in fees. If immigrant’s avoided the unaffordable fees before, now there’s an additional $2000 deterrence to achieving legal status.
