Now, he has completed the journey from <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/791369493809201152?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">exclaiming<\/a> he would be &#8220;grabbing my musket\u201d if Hillary Clinton defeated Trump in 2016 to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/1165680234655551489\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">challenging<\/a> the president in 2020.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The longtime Chicago radio shock jock <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/08\/14\/opinion\/joe-walsh-trump-primary.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">teased his presidential run<\/a> earlier this month in a <i>New York Times<\/i> op-ed before making it official in a media spree weekend. He is being <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BillKristol\/status\/1164866499477155841\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">encouraged<\/a> by Never Trump leaders such as Bill Kristol, despite Walsh <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/956626219767869441\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">claiming last year<\/a> that Kristol\u2019s Twitter feed was \u201clike a continuous documentation of the impact Trump Derangement Syndrome has on a person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now Walsh is facing questions about his own fitness, too.<\/p>\n<p>Walsh joined ABC&#8217;s <i>This Week<\/i> on Sunday and was asked about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=6m7wffXIkm8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">racial comments<\/a> he\u2019d made targeting former President Obama, with George Stephanopoulos bringing up a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/846781098772324352\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2017 tweet<\/a> where Walsh said the former president \u201cwas held to a lower standard cuz he was black.\u201d Walsh made that argument <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/846818237723619330\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">many times<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/999376091746881537\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">over the years<\/a>. Stephanopoulos called this \u201ctextbook racism,\u201d and Walsh responded by saying Trump had \u201cmade me reflect on some of the things I\u2019ve said in the past.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Walsh\u2019s comments about Obama\u2019s race also include a June 2016 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/747175049875046400?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">claim<\/a> that \u201cthe single greatest act of racism in American history was the election of Barack Obama.\u201d Walsh also tweeted in December 2015 that the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/679677864921423873?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">only problem<\/a> with a <i>Washington Post<\/i> cartoon depicting Texas Sen. Ted Cruz\u2019s children as monkeys was that they wouldn\u2019t do the same for Obama\u2019s daughters.<\/p>\n<p>Stephanopoulos brought up Walsh\u2019s claims that Obama was a secret Muslim and asked if he really believed that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGod no,\u201d Walsh said. \u201cAnd I\u2019ve apologized for that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Walsh admits that <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/815421946527629312\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">for years<\/a> he <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/814561166668206080\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">falsely promoted<\/a> the \u201cObama is a Muslim\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/814211367737655297\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">conspiracy theory<\/a> to his hundreds of thousands of followers, propounding it as recently as <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/968334843439472640\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">February 2018<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Walsh also repeatedly insisted Obama was a \u201ctraitor.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I called Barack Obama a traitor, yes I apologize,\u201d Walsh tweeted <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/1165254557884174336\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this weekend<\/a>. Walsh called Obama a traitor on Twitter <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?src=typd&amp;q=from%3Awalshfreedom%20obama%20traitor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">at least seven times<\/a>, as recently as November 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Walsh also promoted <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/636948011281719297?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Birtherism<\/a>, the conspiracy theory also pushed by Trump before he ran for president that Obama was not born in America, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/776799884422868993?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">multiple<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/580091773118214144?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">times.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Walsh <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/864537757565296648\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">repeatedly<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/866815350838624256\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pushed<\/a> the baseless Seth Rich conspiracy theory <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/864535287631884288\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in 2017.<\/a> He <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/1165253780918738944\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">now claims<\/a> Trump questioning the U.S. intelligence assessment about Russian interference while in Helsinki in July 2018 is when Trump \u201clost me for good.\u201d But Walsh was still sharing pro-Trump content on Facebook <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/joewalsh\/photos\/a.330831443688891\/1661379030634119\/?type=3&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">months after Helsinki<\/a>, including an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/joewalsh\/photos\/a.330831443688891\/1669946163110739\/?type=3&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">October 2018<\/a> meme that proclaimed \u201cit\u2019s so great that Hillary Clinton isn\u2019t President!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Walsh also has a long history of anti-Muslim tweets. Walsh <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/1161651177681039360\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">apologized<\/a> earlier this month and claimed he\u2019d \u201calways meant to say Islamists are the problem\u201d and \u201cnot all Muslims,\u201d but a review of his social media accounts indicates this is not the case. He made his animosity toward the religion known through hundreds of tweets and social posts. One Facebook post shared on his page in September 2016 listed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/joewalsh\/photos\/a.330831443688891\/926139294158100?type=3&amp;sfns=mo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cMuslims\u201d<\/a> as one of the four reasons he supported Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Walsh also <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/857948871414218752\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">repeatedly<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/712413131415408641\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">questioned<\/a> the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/712266981622337536\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">existence<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/668444485282582528\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">any<\/a> \u201cmoderate Muslims\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/515470153119989760\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">for years<\/a> on Twitter, as recently <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/867381950696357888\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">as 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After a terrorist attack on the French satirical newspaper <i>Charlie Hebdo<\/i> in 2015, Walsh <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/555439146253426688?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hoped for violence<\/a> against U.S. media outlets.<\/p>\n<p>Walsh also has a lengthy record of racist commentary directed toward black people.<\/p>\n<p>In the wake of shootings that killed five Dallas police officers in 2016, Walsh <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/powerpost\/wp\/2016\/07\/08\/former-congressman-promises-war-warns-obama-to-watch-out-after-dallas-shootings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted, then deleted<\/a> a call for &#8220;war.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Watch out Obama. Watch out black lives matter punks,&#8221; Walsh said. &#8220;Real America is coming after you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Walsh <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/951936512928591873?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a> in 2018 that \u201cHaiti is a shithole and it&#8217;s run by blacks\u201d and \u201cthe violence in Chicago is all black on black.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Walsh also <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/820066774754480130?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">deflected<\/a> from stories about possible police misconduct by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/819984108898123780?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pointing<\/a> to black-on-black crime <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/778608276762161157?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">instead<\/a>. One tweet from Walsh in 2016 even <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/781224337613459456?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">denied the existence<\/a> of any police shootings against black people.<\/p>\n<p>Walsh has also <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/496788834055892992?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">referred<\/a> to a \u201cwar on whites,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/593120941552607232?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> Democrats have turned blacks into \u201cuneducated government slaves,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/690935312361639936?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">suggested<\/a> he wants \u201cquotas for whites in BET Awards,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/731283364137869312\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">claimed<\/a> \u201cmillions of white people died so blacks could be free,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/764899540554186752?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> \u201conce again blacks in America try to burn their own neighborhood down,\u201d and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walshfreedom\/status\/855446900002127872?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a> \u201cI have a right to say blacks are lazy and the Irish are drunks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would have been run out of DC if I tried to launch the Congressional White Caucus,\u201d Walsh <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/joewalsh\/photos\/a.330831443688891\/833152846790079\/?type=3&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">complained<\/a> in 2016. \u201cThat&#8217;s not right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Walsh <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/479639311856316418\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">also<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/479653433813635072\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">repeatedly<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/479781393405198337\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">expressed<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/914562076210794506\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">his frustration<\/a> at not being allowed to use the N-word.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Walsh was <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/722893764721659905\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">repeatedly<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/893946771612815364\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">upset<\/a> that calling someone a \u201cfag\u201d had consequences.<\/p>\n<p>Walsh\u2019s longtime association with white nationalist Paul Nehlen, who was twice supported by Walsh in doomed primary attempts against former congressman Paul Ryan, will also give the presidential hopeful headaches. Just a couple days after the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Walsh had the anti-Semite on his <a href=\"https:\/\/omny.fm\/shows\/the-joe-walsh-show\/the-joe-walsh-program-august-14-2017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">radio show<\/a>. Nehlen was a known &#8220;pizzagate&#8221; conspiracy promoter and had spent the weekend retweeting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/paul-ryans-primary-opponent-paul-nehlen-retweeted-alt-right-celebrations-of-charlottesville-rallies-embraced-pizzagate\/article\/2631612\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">alt-right celebrations<\/a> of Charlottesville.
