President Donald Trump announced his intent to file lawsuits against several media outlets, including CNN, over their \u201crepeated defamatory statements\u201d against him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have notified CNN of my intent to file a lawsuit over their repeated defamatory statements against me,\u201d Trump wrote via his Save America PAC on Wednesday. \u201cI will also be commencing actions against other media outlets who have defamed me and defrauded the public regarding the overwhelming evidence of fraud throughout the 2020 Election.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump continued, \u201cI will never stop fighting for the truth and for the future of our Country!\u201d<\/p>\n

In his letter of intent<\/a>, Trump accused CNN of \u201cmalice\u201d for broadcasting \u201cnumerous articles and televised transmissions\u201d with the purpose to defame him.<\/p>\n

The 45th president also slammed their coverage of the presidential races from 2016 and 2020. He accused the network of airing false, unchallenged statements from media personalities who purported that he was \u201cillegitimately elected\u201d in 2016.<\/p>\n

In 2020, however, CNN seemingly dismissed all claims of election illegitimacy, according to the document, and said Trump was a \u201cliar\u201d who \u201cfalsely claimed the election was being stolen from him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCNN\u2019s reporting, both before the election, as well as after the election, consistently fed a narrative that denounced President Trump\u2019s legitimacy and competency,\u201d the letter read.<\/p>\n

The document also cited a Project Veritas video from last year that showed CNN Technical Director Charlie Chester bragging that the network, who dubs themselves \u201cthe most trusted name in news\u201d helped remove Trump from of the White House.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook at what we did. We [CNN] got Trump out. I\u2019m 100 percent going to say it, and I 100 percent believe that if it wasn\u2019t for CNN, I don\u2019t know that Trump would have got voted out,\u201d said Chester.<\/p>\n

The 282-page notice of intent called upon CNN to publish a \u201cfull and fair correction, apology, or retraction\u201d for more than 30 libelous articles and broadcasts, in accordance with the Florida Statues.<\/p>\n

According to Fla. Statute \u00a7 770.02<\/a>, media networks must issue a \u201ccorrection, apology, or retraction\u201d of their libelous materials within ten days of receiving a notice before they are subject to lawsuits and damages.<\/p>\n
