Trump has responded after the Democrats\u2019 Jan. 6 Committee officially issued a subpoena for him to testify before Congress for the US House Committee on the events of that day at the US Capitol. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> News reports are that Trump is fired up by the opportunity to talk to the public, which is something he is very comfortable doing, but the idea of Trump at the mercy of Daddy&#8217;s Girl Liz Cheney (RINO-WY) is something most people believed Trump would avoid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Democrats-and RINOs on the highly corrupt US House Committee on Jan 6th thought they would try some political theater ahead of the 2022 midterms in November- by embarrassing Trump, and now we hear that Trump has responded to their taunts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump has reportedly said that he will accept the subpoena and is happy to testify, provided he can do it on live TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;According to reports, Trump will agree to testify but doesn\u2019t want the Democrats and their allies in the media to selectively edit his video testimony to make him look bad,&#8221; media reports show. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NYT correspondent Michael Schmidt reported about the situation: \u201cSince it became public that the House select committee planned to subpoena Trump for his testimony, the former president has been telling aides he favors doing so, so long as he gets to do so live, according to a person familiar with his discussions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, told CNN\u2019s Jake Tapper:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn terms of the subpoena, for him, that is actually one of the things that has animated him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe\u2019s been talking to advisers about how, you know, he would consider testifying if they would air it live, which is also not surprising\u2026it seems hard to imagine the committee would go for that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WATCH:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Maggie Haberman: Trump Says He&#39;ll Testify to Jan. 6 Committee If He Can Do It Live &#8211; At Least 1 of His Lawyers On Board <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zYbqTH29sc\">https:\/\/t.co\/zYbqTH29sc<\/a> via <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Mediaite?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@mediaite<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qo5ok9Itv6\">pic.twitter.com\/qo5ok9Itv6<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Tommy Christopher (@tommyxtopher) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/tommyxtopher\/status\/1580890894148186113?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 14, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is what was said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>TAPPER:<\/strong>&nbsp;That\u2019s \u2014 that\u2019s interesting. Do you think his lawyers would let him testify live? I mean, I can\u2019t imagine that \u2014 I mean, it might feel good for him, but I can\u2019t imagine that making him look sane, rational, reasonable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I mean, I don\u2019t see any scenario in which he ends up looking good there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HABERMAN:<\/strong>&nbsp;I think that it would be \u2014 I also don\u2019t see a scenario where he doesn\u2019t potentially get himself into a fraud situation when he\u2019s testifying under oath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And I think it would depend on which lawyers he is listening to, Jake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has different lawyers in different cases, and he seeks them out for different things. And they are not always on the same page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>TAPPER:<\/strong>&nbsp;Well, right, that\u2019s the thing. Because he would be under oath. Often when he testifies under oath, he just ends up saying, \u201cI don\u2019t recall, I don\u2019t recall, I don\u2019t recall.\u201d Because he\u2019s being told by lawyers that he has to do that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But I don\u2019t think he would do that before the committee. I just can\u2019t imagine any attorney \u2014 although, I don\u2019t know how he\u2019s picking his attorneys these days. It doesn\u2019t seem like he\u2019s exactly going to\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HABERMAN:<\/strong>&nbsp;Right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>TAPPER:<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2026 the Harvard Law Review. So do you think \u2014 I mean, among these lesser attorneys who are giving him advice these days, do you think somebody would actually tell him, \u201cGo ahead, do that; that\u2019s going to be great?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HABERMAN:<\/strong>&nbsp;At least one of his lawyers was sounding people out about the idea today of him \u2014 of him testifying and agreeing to it as long as the committee would let him do it live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And so I certainly don\u2019t think they\u2019re all shutting him down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I do think that there are people who would be concerned about it, for the same reason that his lawyers, when he was being investigated by Robert Mueller, the special counsel, were concerned about him meeting with Mueller and testifying, which Trump wanted to and they did not want him to, for the reasons you just said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Donald J.
