    “The NIH research consisted of two parts. The first part began in 2014 and involved surveillance of bat coronaviruses, and had a budget of $3.7 million. The program funded Shi Zheng-Li, a virologist at the Wuhan lab, and other researchers to investigate and catalogue bat coronaviruses in the wild. This part of the project was completed in 2019.”

    “A second phase of the project, beginning that year, included additional surveillance work but also gain-of-function research for the purpose of understanding how bat coronaviruses could mutate to attack humans. The project was run by EcoHealth Alliance, a non-profit research group, under the direction of President Peter Daszak, an expert on disease ecology. NIH canceled the project just this past Friday, April 24th, Politico reported. Daszak did not immediately respond to Newsweek requests for comment.”

McArdle.  His work centered on the neurotrophic effects of reinnervation on mammalian skeletal muscle.  He then completed three years of postdoctoral training at the Department of Physiology, University of Virginia Medical School and the Department of Pharmacology, University of Lund, Sweden, where he conducted research on dystrophic muscle and voltage clamp on reinnervating muscle.”

    “In 1980, Dr. Sellin became a Research Physiologist at the U.S. Army Medical research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Fort Detrick, Maryland, where he conducted electrophysiological studies on the action of botulinum toxin at the neuromuscular junction. From 1984 to 1989, he conducted research in the Finnish Alcohol Research Institute and was a cardiovascular project manager at Orion Pharmaceutical Company, where he was a co-inventor on two patented compounds. Dr. Sellin returned to the U.S. in 1989, working as a research grant administrator at both the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. From 1992 until 2000, he held positions of increasing responsibility at Astra and the merged AstraZeneca Pharmaceutical Company in the areas of clinical research and business management, ending his career with AstraZeneca as Global Director of E-Commerce and Internet Operations.  In 1992 he was appointed Adjunct Associate Professor of Biophysics at the University of Oulu in Finland. Since 2000, he has worked for IBM as a European executive in Wireless E-Business and most recently as a Partner in IBM’s Business Consulting services. He has over 90 publications and abstracts on a broad range of topics in both science and business, and has made numerous presentations at international business conferences.”

    DOJ Investigating Governors Orders Which May Have Resulted In High Death Rate of Elderly Nursing Home Residents

    August 26, 2020 Press Release by The Department of Justice states:

    Today the Justice Department requested COVID-19 data from the governors of states that issued orders which may have resulted in the deaths of thousands of elderly nursing home residents. New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan required nursing homes to admit COVID-19 patients to their vulnerable populations, often without adequate testing.

    For example, on March 25, 2020, New York ordered: “No resident shall be denied re-admission or admission to [a nursing home] solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19. [Nursing homes] are prohibited from requiring a hospitalized resident who is determined medically stable to be tested for COVID-19 prior to admission or readmission.”

    “Protecting the rights of some of society’s most vulnerable members, including elderly nursing home residents, is one of our country’s most important obligations,” said Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Division Eric Dreiband. “We must ensure they are adequately cared for with dignity and respect and not unnecessarily put at risk.”

    According to the Centers for Disease Control, New York has the highest number of COVID-19 deaths in the United States, with 32,592 victims, many of them elderly. New York’s death rate by population is the second highest in the country with 1,680 deaths per million people. New Jersey’s death rate by population is 1,733 deaths per million people – the highest in the nation. In contrast, Texas’s death rate by population is 380 deaths per million people; and Texas has just over 11,000 deaths, though its population is 50 percent larger than New York and has many more recorded cases of COVID-19 – 577,537 cases in Texas versus 430,885 cases in New York. Florida’s COVID-19 death rate is 480 deaths per million; with total deaths of 10,325 and a population slightly larger than New York.

    The Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division is evaluating whether to initiate investigations under the federal “Civil Rights of Institutionalized Persons Act” (CRIPA), which protects the civil rights of persons in state-run nursing homes, among others. The Civil Rights Division seeks to determine if the state orders requiring admission of COVID-19 patients to nursing homes is responsible for the deaths of nursing home residents.

    On March 3, 2020, the Attorney General announced the Justice Department’s National Nursing Home Initiative. This is a comprehensive effort by the department, led by the Elder Justice Initiative and in strong partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that uses every available tool to pursue nursing homes that provide substandard care to their residents.  As announced on April 10, 2020, the department is also investigating the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, Massachusetts, where COVID-19 has taken the lives of at least 76 residents.  https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/federal-investigation-conditions-nursing-home-veterans-massachusetts-announced

    Letters were sent to Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York State, Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey, Governor Tom Wolf of Pennsylvania, and Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan from the Department of Justice requesting answers. DOJ states “Data will help inform whether the Department of Justice will initiate investigations under the Civil Rights of Institutionalized Persons Act (CRIPA) regarding New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan’s response to COVID-19 in public nursing homes”

    Mainstream media failed to ask the questions most Americans have been asking for months. Why would these governors place known COVID-19 infected individuals in nursing homes endangering the lives of the elderly? It is widely known the elderly are more likely to catch and die from COVID-19 than any other group. Was this an ‘oversight’?  Was this neglect?  Was this intentional? The American people deserve answers, and so do the many families that have been effected and lost loved ones by these actions. Maybe soon we will get those answers.
