The sham House Jan. 6 Committee, co-helmed by outgoing RINO GOP Rep. Liz Cheney (Wyo.), voted Monday 9-0 to urge the Department of Justice to pursue criminal charges against former President Donald Trump for allegedly inciting violence at the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
Despite Trump attempting to rein back protesters that day by issuing various messages on Twitter calling for an end to the altercation, the Committee unanimously recommended the DOJ file charges against the former president for:
- Obstruction of an Official Procedure
- Conspiracy to Defraud the United States
- Conspiracy to Make False Statements
- Inciting or Assisting an Insurrection
“He lost the 2020 election and knew it,” Committee chair Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) claimed Monday. “But he chose to try to stay in office through a multi-part scheme to overturn the results and block the transfer of power.”
“Beginning even before the election, and continuing through January 6 and thereafter, Donald Trump purposely disseminated false allegations of fraud in order to aid his effort to overturn the 2020 election,” Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Cali.) chimed in. “Ex-President Trump’s decision to declare victory falsely on election night wasn’t a spontaneous decision. It was premeditated.”
“The Committee has evidence that ex-President Trump planned to declare victory and unlawfully to call for the vote counting to stop and that he told numerous allies about his intent and the weeks before the election,” Lofgren continued. “The Committee found that Mr. Trump raised hundreds of millions of dollars with false representations made to his online donors the proceeds from his fundraising we have learned have been used in ways that we believe are concerning.”
The Committee on Monday also unveiled new testimony and text messages from Trump adviser Hope Hicks, which they’re calling a smoking gun that Trump new in advance violence would be waged at the Capitol.
Trump shot back at Liz Cheney on Truth Social Monday, highlighting the outgoing rep’s tremendous defeat by a MAGA candidate in August’s Republican primary in Wyoming, pointing out, “…But Liz Chaney lost by a record 40 points!”
